refering to what Christinah asked, i would say that being wasteful is an economizing problem. since resources are scarce, if everyone is wasteful, the resources would be more scarce, and we've been taught that economy is the social science that deals with limited resources and unlimited wants. scarcity is an issue that the economy and the society is dealing with. therefore being wasteful enlarges the problem of scarcity, which creates a burden to the economy.
